#MilitaryMonday: Harriett West Waddy was in the first class of WAC Officer Candidate School at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. As the first African-American woman promoted to the rank of Major, she was one of two highest-ranking black officers in the WAC in World War II. Harriet served her country in efforts abroad, but she always continued to fight for equality in the war at home as well, later serving as the WAC Director's advisor on African-American women.
