Happy Sunday! By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my @yearsofliving team to talk about carbon pricing, so we can think/talk/learn/listen... together! Please please take a second to read this post! It's five minutes out of your Sunday that could help you make a difference, THE DIFFERENCE, the world needs!!! "My name is Lizzy and I’m 23 years old. Like many youth climate activists, I’m worried about our future. Not only am I worried, I’m infuriated by the lies that US elected officials spew. I’m enraged by their dishonesty. Most importantly though, what drives me to be a leader in the movement is justice for people and the planet. None of us wanted it to be like this, however, as @xiutezcatl_tonatiuh says, “In light of a collapsing world, what better time to be born than now? Because our generation gets to rewrite history.” I first learned about #climatechange when I took a course titled “Global Community” during my freshman year of college @SyracuseU. Phrases like “water scarcity” immediately sent alarms bells ringing through my brain. I thought, “How could no one be talking about this?” I quickly learned that the magnitude of the environmental crisis is not accurately portrayed in the media and as a communications student @newhousesu this pissed me off. Fast forward to my senior year of college when this photo was taken at the first @PeoplesClimate March in September of 2014 in NYC. The #PeoplesClimate organizers thought 30 - 40K would show up and to their surprise over 400K people marched in New York City alone. It made the cover of The New York Times. It was then that I realized, WE THE PEOPLE have the potential to dictate what the media reports on. We can dictate what’s trending on Twitter and Facebook. That’s why showing up to demonstrations and marches is so critical, especially in this time where our President is directly putting our lives in danger with his lack of environmental/climate policy and questioning science. So what can you do? Join me & the @putapriceonit team at People’s Climate March in DC on April 29th! You can sign up at http://www.ourclimate.us/pcm2017 "
