About 2 miles west of Lone Pine, #California, is an otherworldly landscape of granite rock that has been etched by wind and water, creating the unusual rounded formations of #AlabamaHills. The weathered contours of the Alabamas form a sharp contrast with the crisply-sculpted ridges of the nearby #SierraNevada. The area has attracted rock climbers, hikers, mountain bikers and anglers -- not to mention filmmakers who have used it as the setting for numerous movies and commercials.
