Do you know that the @ASPCA is the last big animal welfare organization that is NOT supporting the anti-declawing bills? In 2015 the ASPCA's reason for not wanting declawing banned was because of the immune compromised excuse. They personally sent me an email that year and said they were revising their position statement. So in thieir revised position, the new reason they don't want to support the anti-declawing bills is this, "Legislation to make declawing illegal, while well-intentioned, can be problematic, because, in rare cases, the procedure may be justifiable as a last resort to prevent euthanasia. There is also no meaningful way to enforce a law that includes this exception." ??????? Well, what do you think about that bs?? Don't they know how many declawed cats are being thrown away to shelters and then euthanized because of their behavioral issues from being declawed? ?Don't they know how many declawed cats die on the operating (torture) table while they are having their toe bones barbarically amputated? ?Don't they care that ALL declawed cats walk with some sort of pain and suffering because of having their toe bones and claws amputated? ???? Does ASPCA really care about the welfare of cats or are they just being influenced by the veterinary associations who don't want declawing to end because amputating cat toes brings their vets lots of extra money? Do you think I should make ANOTHER petition to ASPCA to try to inspire them to do the right thing? Sheesh, why do we have to work so hard to get humans to do the right thing??Especially an organization that says they are all about ending the cruelty to animals. Newsflash ASPCA. The lives of cats DO matter and you really need to help us and stop being the caboose on this important cat welfare train! Please respectfully reach out to ASPCA and ask them to support the bills to end declawing in NJ, NY, WV, HI, and OR. #aspca #pawsneedclaws
