An indigenous people who where the first group in Latin America to gain indigenous autonomy. Since well before Columbus sailed these waters in 1502, the preservation of their identity has been extremely important and they make tenacious efforts to preserve their traditional ways of life that consist of sailing, fishing and manufacturing of traditional clothing.
