Puffin in thrift during a rain shower - This is yet another image that I stumbled upon recently whilst sorting through unprocessed RAW files on some old hard drives. I don't really know or understand why I overlooked it in the first place as it's an image that I really quite like but nevertheless, I took it over 5 years ago and until now it has sat there, unseen and unprocessed. Puffins are an incredible species with which to work, not only because of their confiding nature and their expressive faces but also because of the wonderful punctuations of color with which they are naturally blessed. They are a species that I'll be revisiting, hopefully extensively, over this coming summer as I'm looking to visit some of the UK's spectacular seabird colonies, both ones that I've explored previously and ones that are, to date, new to me. As usual my photography will be completely unplanned and organic and depending on the situations on each given day I'll simply respond to the best of my ability. I know that there are some photographers, indeed some of the world's leading photographers, who pre-visualize the images that they hope to take, even sketching out drawings and planning extensively. Whilst I applaud any approach that yields fantastic images my own style of work could not be further removed. I am at best hopelessly dis-organised and whilst there might be aspects of behavior that I might hope to capture all of my image ideas will have their origin in time spent simply watching and spending time with these beautiful birds. One thing that I do have to change however is that having invested all the time and energy is actually taking the images it might be an idea if I actually get around to processing them!
