Resistance is no longer an option. It is a necessity. We must normalize resistance! We will lose more than we will win, but our loud resistance shines a light on injustice. Through our dissent we educate ourselves and each other, and we send a loud message that we will not be moved. We also recognize that it’s important to acknowledge our victories, however big or small. Here are a few from the past week or so. A federal appeals court voted UNANIMOUSLY against reinstating the #MuslimBan and said that Trump’s claim that the court lacked authority to review his executive order was “contrary to the fundamental structure of our constitutional democracy.” 2. San Francisco will offer its residents free community college. 3. Los Angeles will no longer arrest street vendors to protect undocumented residents. 4. Seattle and Davis, CA are cutting ties with Wells Fargo and pulling more than $3 billion from the bank to protest their support of the Dakota Access Pipeline. 5. Tallahassee’s mayor stood up to the NRA—and won. 6. In North Carolina, the courts said no to gerrymandered districts and limiting the power of the incoming governor. While it’s not over yet, it’s moving in the right direction. 7. 935 companies broke ties with Breitbart. 8. More than 4,000 women told @emilys_list they want to run for office. 9. A record-breaking number of people called the Capitol to voice their concerns. 10. Democrats pulled two all-nighters to protest the nominations of DeVos and Jeff Sessions.
