In 2015, the Guggenheim hosted a 40-year survey of Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian’s mirror works and drawings. Born in Qazvin, Iran, in 1924, Monir's work is influenced by aesthetic traditions of Islamic architecture and decoration. Her use of geometry as form allows for, in the artist’s words, “infinite possibility." At this unprecedented time in our country’s history, we will continue to champion the vitality of artists’ voices from around the world and seek opportunities for understanding between cultures and peoples.
