Photo @materas // A rare winter sunset in Mt. Rainier National Park. It's rare for a couple of reasons. First, we don't get too many sunny days in the Cascades in winter. But the Park Service closes the gates for the access road at 5pm in winter. This was shot on the first day of winter this past December, which is the shortest day of the year, so we had just enough time to stick around for sunset and dash down before they close the gate.
