Here he addresses dry needling my scalene muscles (anterior, middle, posterior). These are a small but extremely important muscle group to consider not only with neck pain but also with athletes who demand a lot of their arms and hands. These muscles flank the nerves and blood vessels as they exit the neck and chest before traveling into the arms and hands. The scalenes also attach onto the upper 2 ribs which, when pulled upward can cause compression on the nerves and vessels. So by using needles to release tension in the scalenes, we free up better blood flow and nerve input to the arms and hands, ultimately leading to better performance. ??
