Happy (would have been) 94th Birthday to My Grandpa- David Vilven! This man, along side my grandma, raised me and my sisters out of the love and generosity of his heart. He was a super active person; running, swimming, raising grandchildren, fixing flat bicycle tires, he always had a huge garden... etc. up till the time of his death. He also had an awesome sense of humor! I know I am the determined, slightly stubborn, gritty tough woman I am today because I my Grandpas influence. After he had a stroke and a heart attack when I was 13 years old (I was with him-while driving) he had to learn how to walk, talk, eat, get dressed, and find purpose again in his life. So what did he do? He ran 3 miles a day for over 10 years!
