This is what happens when an eruption from a supermassive black hole is swept up by the collision and merger of two galaxy clusters – in this case, Abell 3411 and Abell 3412. Astronomers call it an “extraordinary cosmic particle accelerator.” The composite image was made using X-rays from the Chandra observatory, radio emission from the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope and Subaru telescope.
