Had the honor to bask in the presence of these amazing creatures. I didn't want to pet them or bother them, I just wanted to watch them eat. And you shouldn't ride elephants, did you know that? It is bad for them. The Elephant Nature Park is an hour outside of Chiang Mai and rescues abused and mamed elephants (some are blind, a few even stepped on land mines and have been hit by cars) dogs and cats. It's a peaceful place where elephants don't have their "spirits broken" (when the guide said that I almost cried) and they just enjoy their lives. It was very special. We paid just to watch them live. Also I fed one a cucumber.
