Photo by @andywcoleman // Sometimes finding big cats while on safari is like playing hide and seek. In the winter, when the grasses are dry, even a large lion can be completely hidden by its surroundings. If this male hadn't sat up to look around, we would have driven right by this pride of lions. There were actually four lions in front of us when I took this image - besides the male, there are two that can't be seen in the thick brush and one that is pretty well camouflaged in the foreground. In addition to giving our guides a challenge, they will use the ability to hide in plain sight to their advantage while hunting.
