I love when people in a community come together to create something positive from a hurdle they've faced or a problem that exists. A group of female illustrators noticed the lack of magazine cover jobs going to female-identifying illustrators and decided to create a resource for art directors, publishers and designers to help identify and hire these talented people more often. Women Who Draw is an open directory of female-identified illustrators and it is now LIVE and ready to be used as well as submitted to. Their goal is to continually grow the database to represent more women of color, LGBTQ+ people, and women of diverse ages and abilities. If you are a professional illustrator who is available for freelance work, please check out the site (link in my profile above) to submit your work. I expect this is going to grow quickly and in a way that creates a resource that so many of us have longed for over the years. Please be sure to check it out and I'm 100% sure you'll find many new incredible women to support, hire and became fans of. I've already bookmarked 5 new people to reach out...this is such an exciting project. *Women Who Draw is trans-inclusive and includes women, trans and gender non-conforming illustrators.
