Our very first #solidaritysunday was so wonderful. Thank you to @k8shots for inspiring this awesome day of community activism. We made new friends, made plans for marches and community pot lucks and ways to encourage more open dialogue. By the end of the meeting we had handwritten over 90 letters to groups in need around our community to give our thanks, show our support and speak up to let them know we will show up and be there whenever they need us. We wrote to local officials and the chief of police to thank them for committing to making our area a safe haven for immigrants. Mostly I think we all really enjoyed getting to take a moment to do something concrete. This will of course not be the end of or full extent of our activism, but being in warm company to do something together to let other people know they're supported was really nice. If you want to start a branch in your town you can look up "Solidarity Sundays" on Facebook, contact @k8shots or just start your own! Just have everyone bring their own stamps or a few bucks to chip in for postage if you need a letter campaign like we did today. ❤️❤️
