Photo by @FransLanting How do you make the familiar look different? I always like to look for other points of view. Instead of doing a conventional portrait of these zebras on the savannas of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, I went behind them to emphasize their big guts, which they need to digest grass. When global climates got cooler and drier starting around 35 million years ago, forests gave way to new open habitats worldwide, and African savannas came into their own. Grasses spread and grazing mammals proliferated. And their guts and their butts got bigger.
