Wildfires are currently raging at #GreatSmokyMountains National Park (@greatsmokynps) near Gatlinburg, #Tennessee, causing the park to close. Recent extreme weather conditions led to the spread of #fires both inside and outside of the park. Wind gusts of over 80 mph, low relative humidity and extended drought conditions caused the #fire to spread rapidly, in spite of vigorous suppression efforts. Conditions remain extremely dangerous and travel in the area is limited to emergency traffic only.
