The two countries have been isolated by political differences for nearly 60 years. Travel restrictions have begun to relax this year and change could come even faster with yesterday's passing of Fidel Castro, who led the Communist revolution there in 1959. Expanded tourism can benefit this island nation of 11 million people. My hope is that commerce and cultural exchange can rise without harming the historic character and pristine natural environments that make Cuba unique in the Caribbean. #Cuba #heritage #havana #preserve #persevere.
