FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Cardiff City - Villa extended their unbeaten sequence under Steve Bruce to seven matches with three hard-earned points in a bruising encounter against Cardiff City. Albert Adomah opened the scoring on 24 minutes with his first Villa goal, and although Rickie Lambert equalized four minutes later, Jonathan Kodjia restored the lead with a 39th-minute header. And although chances were few and far between in the second half, Rudy Gestede put the issue beyond doubt with an 90th minute penalty. Adomah made the breakthrough after Jordan Amavi had ventured down the left to deliver a menacing low cross though a crowded goalmouth. Adomah controlled the ball at the far post before calmly firing past keeper Ben Amos from six yards. After Lambert had stroked home the equaliser, Villa were back in front six minutes before half-time. Kodjia’s fine pass enabled Adomah to get in from the right, and although the ball was initially cleared, the midfielder lobbed it back into the danger zone for Kodjia to climb and head in from close range. Sub Gestede wrapped up the points when he sent Amos the wrong way with his late penalty after Jack Grealish had been brought down by Cardiff skipper Sean Morrison. #AVFC #AVLCAR #AstonVilla #AstonVillaFC #VillaPark #Football #Cardiff #CardiffCity #CardiffCityFC
