HT: Aston Villa 2-1 Cardiff City - Goals from Albert Adomah – his first for the club – and Jonathan Kodjia gave Villa a deserved 2-1 interval lead against Cardiff City. The visitors’ bright start had Villa on the back foot, although Kodjia wasn’t far off target in the 11th minute when he turned inside his marker to send a low drive just beyond the far post. And in the 24th minute Adomah made the breakthrough after Jordan Amavi had ventured down the left to deliver a menacing low cross though a crowded goalmouth. Adomah controlled the ball at the far post before calmly firing past keeper Ben Amos from six yards. The lead, unfortunately, lasted for just four minutes before Steve Bruce’s men were rocked by an equaliser from Rickie Lambert, the striker stroking the ball home after Villa were caught out by a couple of precise Cardiff passes. But Villa were back in front on 39 minutes. Kodjia’s fine pass enabled Adomah to get in from the right, and although the ball was initially cleared, the midfielder lobbed it back into the danger zone for Kodjia to climb and head in from close range. #AVLCAR #AVFC #AstonVilla #AstonVillaFC #VillaPark
