This week, while our eyes were on politics, they spilled the beans: @andyhaslamphoto took this photo of Galley Head Lighthouse in County Cork, #Ireland. The golden age of #lighthouse construction in Ireland was in the mid-19th century; over 40 lighthouses were built between the 1830s and 1860s alone. They thrived for more than a century, until technology changed. But they’re still standing. Now, the Great Lighthouses of Ireland, a tourism trail introduced last year, highlights 12 exceptional lighthouses around the country.
