Just a few more days to Election Day and I've stayed pretty quiet (publicly, at least, ha) about my thoughts on this election. I've read and watched and listened and prayed and debated and argued and discussed with family and friends exhaustively and for what seems like forever now. This has been a tough season for all of us. Whatever side your on. The answer as to who to vote for is a difficult one every election season but this time it seems particularly tough. I was challenged by @kirkcameronofficial to post #thischristianvotes and I love this idea. Because I think that sometimes as Christians we can be scared to jump into politics or entertainment or certain jobs or whatever because it seems like a difficult battle. One that Satan is winning so its scary and worldly and we don't want to get caught up in all of that so we hold back and stick around other Christians who think exactly like we do and we try our hardest to stay in our little boxes and not get tainted by the world. We're scared because people are messy and make mistakes and we might too and others might see it if we get involved. I'm pretty sure that's not how God calls us to live. He tells us over and over in His Word "Do not fear for I am with you." He reminds us that "Greater is He who is in us than who is in the world." Also He tells us that we are the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world." Shame on us when we hide our light or lose our saltiness because of fear or unwillingness to be uncomfortable #thischristianvotes and I'm challenging you to as well because we are His ambassadors on this earth. Maybe we think this world isn't our home anyway so we just hold our breath and wait for Heaven but as God's children we have a purpose here on earth. If God's kingdom is going to come "on earth as it is in Heaven" then we'd better get to it! I'm not here to tell you who to vote for. But I am asking you to prayerfully and respectfully vote. Not to sit on the sidelines. And then after the results are all in and our new president is named pray fervently for him or her. My prayer is that we work together to be a nation that loves God and others. In the end that's what we are called to do!
