Super Powers by Tom Scioli!

I didn’t want too much time to pass since celebrating Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye Issue 1 without mentioning something very special you will find in the pages of that comic.
Tom Scioli (@tom_scioli) is one of my favorite comic creators hands down. I like to describe Tom’s work as “unhinged”, free from the shackles of adulthood and defiant in the face of a world that sometimes encourages and rewards a mundane existence. He cares so deeply about super heroes, and the act of storytelling. He celebrates a long comics history while at the same time bringing the reader somewhere new.
I was instantly re-hooked on his work years ago, when a Free Comic Book day offering appeared- Transformers VS GiJoe. I couldn’t believe the comic existed. It was so wildly different than anything out there. I thought it was one of the boldest moves in comics to put that work out into the world. I also want to mention John Barber as being half of the team that makes that wonderful book. They both do a brilliant job.
So, when Tom messaged me on twitter with the words “Super Powers”, I knew we had to do it at Young Animal. And the end result is so lovingly wild that you would be robbing yourself of a unique experience if you don’t read it. I also felt that it fit in nicely with Cave Carson, as that book also has one (cybernetic) eye trained on the past, and one flung far into the future.
