Photo @materas // Lake Chelan on the east slope of the northern Cascades of Washington state. The lake is a narrow 50 mile long lake that was carved by glaciers to a depth of 1,486 feet. The lake surface is at 1,100 feet above sea level, making the bottom of the lake 386 feet below sea level! Exactly 10 miles to the west of the lake is Bonanza Peak (not the peak shown here) at over 9,500 feet, giving it 8,400 feet of vertical relief above Lake Chelan. Follow me @materas for more images like this from Washington and around the world. #cascades #washington
