Feeling a little overwhelmed and under water today so I've been looking through outtakes from #inthecompanyofwomen to refocus and get ready for the next leg of the book tour tomorrow. This amazing photo of @llubav that @sashaisrael took has stayed in my heart since I saw it. Llubav moved to the US from Chimbote, Peru and has been one of my dearest friends for a long time now. Two years ago she was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, a condition that makes it difficult for her to create her (beautiful) artwork. Hearing her so bravely discuss that fear in the book broke my heart but gave me so much hope that another artist dealing with a similar physical challenge would read her words and feel a connection and a support system. Llubav has always inspired me, but her openness in this book made me love her even more (which I didn't think was possible) ❤️
