#awkwardsummitpose ?? We arrived on the summit at 8am and I immediately took off the top half of my down suit. I never put on my mittens (only light gloves) and my feet were sweating the whole time. What a crazy feeling to have it be so pleasant at the 6th tallest point on earth!? Btw the tallest is right behind me in this photo. The rule of thumb is that since Cho Oyu's summit is a massive sloping plateau, you're not on the true summit until you can see Everest ?. The irony is that on the walk down from camp 1 to ABC - the very last leg after a crushing day - it started snowing and we froze our asses off slipping and sliding along the edge of a glacier. When it got dark we couldn't be bothered finding our headlamps so we used one iPhone flashlight to stumble exhausted back to camp. The mountains never fail to surprise, impress, challenge, and crush us. 18 hours of heavy breathing, dramatic temperature swings, some exciting survival skiing, and an amazing crew of climbers and friends.
