Answer: You never forget the moments when you weren’t allowed inside a restaurant because of your skin color, or when you saw an effigy of a black dummy hanging off the top of a steeple in Texas, or having to sleep in a funeral parlor because the hotel owner wouldn’t let you stay…That stuff doesn’t go away...but having lived through it to see the day where our stories are not just told, but celebrated, is a beautiful thing. It's more than a building...It’s a symbol of perseverance, strength, & dignity. Reflecting on where I started out in this picture, I saw things that no kid should have to see...You can’t change the past, but you can shape the future. So, the @nmaahc is a reminder to everyone that we either fight or unite…& it’s about time we unite. #VisitorsVoices #APeoplesJourney
