In the eight grade, Deepika (@deepika_chu) began to develop a way to clean water with sunlight, after being inspired by a trip to India, where she noticed a human need for the vital resource. Her invention earned her a nod as America's Top Young Scientist from Discovery Education and 3M in 2012 at age 14. Now the sophomore studies neurobiology at Harvard University, and is working on bringing the latest prototype to the real world. ?
