Shortly before her 1st birthday, Alexandra "Alex" Scott was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (a type of childhood cancer). Her doctors informed her parents that, even if she were cured of her cancer, it was doubtful she would ever walk again. Just two weeks later, she showed her doctors exactly what she was made of and slightly moved her legs when her parents asked her to try kicking. That was the first indication of what a remarkable human being Alex was! At just four years old, she held her first childhood cancer fundraiser in her front yard by starting a lemonade stand, raising over $2,000! When this angel left this earth in 2004 after her battle with cancer, she had raised $1 million, while inspiring a legacy of hope and cures for childhood cancer. Her determination, courage, and compassion for other cancer fighters absolutely makes Alex my #WPW (Wonderful People Wednesday).
