Happy 53rd birthday to Peter Rufai! The Nigerian goalkeeper enjoyed a very illustrious career, playing in Belgium, Portugal and Spain. Rufai helped Nigeria lift the 1994 African Cup of Nations. His performance earned him a subsequent call-up to the Nigeria squad that played in the 1994 FIFA World Cup. As both captain and goalkeeper of the team, he led the ‘Super Eagles’ into the round of 16. Rufai also played in the 1998 FIFA World Cup before retiring from international football.
