Towers like this dot the landscape in Provence and are called Pigeonnier, rough translation: pigeon homes. They used to be built as homes for birds with the goal of collecting fertilizer. Now you find them in various states, some left to fall apart and others converted into living quarters. I find them quite regal—even though I could only imagine the damage those birds did. #makeitnice
