? We hatched our very first hooded crane chick at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute on June 14! The chick hatched as the result of an artificial insemination, and is being raised by its parents. SCBI is now home to 8 of the 26 hooded cranes in the North American Species Survival Plan. There are less than 8,000 hooded cranes in the wild. #WeSaveSpecies
