Well, hello.
Was just doing a little convention watching.
Lots of God talk up in there. Lots passed off as Christianity.
Wanted to throw this out there: The Bible’s like a shovel. It can be used to hit hurting folks over the head & keep them down. Or it can be used to dig up fallow earth & plant new life.
Let’s dig.
Two of the most repeated phrases in the Bible are: FEAR NOT & REMEMBER.
Remember can mean to recall an old idea-but it can also mean the opposite of dismember. Remember can mean TO MAKE WHOLE AGAIN. To pull back together AS ONE. We are one human family but we are dismembered down here, like a scattered puzzle. And we have been COMMANDED by God, by Love – to REMEMBER. The ONLY WAY to be bold and brave enough to remember is DO NOT FEAR. We do not fear the “other” because the truth is that THERE IS NO OTHER. Black people are not other. Neither are immigrant people, refugee people, gay people, transgender people, non-American people, non-Christian people. Neither are THOSE IN A DIFFERENT POLITICAL PARTY ARE NOT OTHER (I’m looking at you, Glennon, with that one.) WE ARE ONE.
There are only two voices inside of you: FEAR & LOVE. The Fear voice calls us to retreat and remain dismembered. The Love voice calls us to pull close to each other—to love BEYOND our own selves, prejudices, homes, races, religions & nations. Fear calls us to "safety” -- love calls us to risk it all. You cannot choose both fear and love. You must choose to follow one or the other- because they lead in opposite directions.
Do not retreat to save yourself, your family, your country. If you retreat from each other because of fear, you do not save yourself. You have already lost everything-your soul, your human family. She who tries to save her life, her family-loses them. She who holds what she knows, what she "owns" what she thinks loosely-finds her life.
Safety is death. Love is a risk, but love is life.
Be dangerous: LOVE.
FEAR IS NOT THE BOSS OF US. LOVE IS THE BOSS OF US.
Fear Not. Remember.
