Photograph by @paulnicklen // British Columbia’s coastal wolves are distinct, special, unlike any other wolf on this planet. These young pups play while they wait for their pack members to return with a meal from the sea. A small population of wolves on Vargas Island Provincial Park was nearly killed off by the Provincial Parks several years ago because of human-induced conflict. These wolves share the same ocean beaches as humans. They have been fed by people and are becoming more bold. Now, just when this population is starting to grow, we are at a crossroads. If one wolf is shot, we risk losing the whole pack. Let’s not make the same mistake again. We, as humans, are smart enough to adapt when visiting their home. Simple solutions will go a long way to ensuring their survival—and in preserving this critical and interconnected ecosystem. Please #followme on @paulnicklen to learn a lot more about this issue and coastal sea wolves in general. #wolf #nature #wildlife #thejourney #love #beauty #picoftheday
