In memoriam Abbas Kiarostami: 1940 – 2016

Born in 1940 in Tehran, Abbas Kiarostami was one of the most important film-makers in cinema history and had been awarded prizes including the prestigious Palme d’Or in 1997 for his film ‘Taste of Cherry’. Having been diagnosed with cancer in March 2016, Kiarostami passed away on July 4 in Paris, at the age of 76.
