I can't sleep right now so I am going to tell you a little story. My dad was a musician but before anything he was just a really bad dad... So bad that by respect for my Mom I always stayed away from learning music. No matter how much I felt that I had it in my soul. I was always worried that if I chose music I was gonna make my mom think of him & make her sad. Many years has passed by, & music keeps calling me stronger everyday. I FEEL LIKE A MUSICIAN IS IN JAIL INSIDE OF ME. AND THAT I HAVE BEEN USING WORDS, VIDEOS, BEING SILLY WITH STRANGERS ETC AS A WAY TO EXPRESS MYSELF WITHOUT INSTRUMENTS. So in Senegal, a couple months ago, I stopped fighting it, and I bought a djembe. This picture is when the kids from the village gave me my first music lesson. That was a very magical moment for me. It kinda felt like a birth ? I told my Mom of course, by respect, and she said she was all ok in the end, and that she would rather see me learn music than politics ?? I guess time really does heal everything? ❤️ I have too many humanitarian missions in preparation to make music a priority right now, but as we go on more missions everywhere, I will keep asking strangers & kids to teach me what they know, so maybe one day I will be able to play a music MADE OF BITS & FEELS FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD, THAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE FEEL CONNECTED LIKE A BIG HUMAN FAMILY.. THAT'S MY GOAL.
