Europeans Bosnia and Herzegovina and Finland, along with China, advanced to the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship Classification 9-12 games where they are joined by debutants Dominican Republic. A night after losing a thriller to Australia in the Round of 16, Bosnia captain Dzanan Musa set a new FIBA U17 Worlds scoring record with 50 points in a 105-75 victory over Chinese Taipei. Musa broke the mark of 41 points previously held jointly by Isaac Humphries of Australia in 2014 and France's Jaylen Hoard earlier in this tournament.
In the Classification 9-12 games, Bosnia and Herzegovina will next take on the Dominican Republic, who got their first taste of U17 Worlds victory with a 74-70 defeat of Mali. Alanzo Frink collected 24 points and 11 rebounds while Yeison Rivera scored 16 points and Miguel Diaz had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mali will face Chinese Taipei in the Classification 13-16.
Fellow debutants Finland bounced back from a Round of 16 loss against France to beat Egypt 84-73 thanks to 24 points from Elias Valtonen whileAhmed Khalaf picked up 20 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for Egypt, who will face Argentina in the Classification 13-16.
China booked their date against Finland in the Classification 9-12 by knocking off winless Argentina 80-74 as Zhu Rongzhen had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Li Xiangbo added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Argentina were topped by Lautaro Lopez and Francisco Caffaro both scoring 19 points.
