Three-time defending champions United States, fellow North American powers Canada as well as hosts Spain topped their 2016 #FIBAU17 World Championship groups with perfect records while France captured first place in Group D. The United States rolled past Egypt 104-57 to take a 3-0 record and first place in Group A.

Turkey snatched second place in the group with a 2-1 record with a 76-56 victory over winless Chinese Taipei. Ahmed Can Duran collected 16 points and 15 rebounds while Onuralp Bitim scored 15 points for the Turks. Lin Ting-Chien paced the Asians with 15 points.
Canada saw RJ Barrett score 17 points to pace six players in double figures in a 105-54 blowout of China in Group C. Simi Shittu chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Canadians.

The other two teams in Group C were also 1-2 after Australia beat Finland 77-62 thanks to 19 points from Tom Fullarton and 17 points from Matthew Johns. The Aussies needed to win by 13 points to reach the coveted third place in Group C, which would mean avoiding a possible match-up with the USA.

Hosts Spain also improved to 3-0 to top Group B but it was much tougher than expected against Argentina, winning 59-49. The home side lost leader Miguel Gonzalez for the game with an injury in the opening minute and needed 19 points and 16 rebounds from Sergi Martinez and 14 points from Raimon Carrasco to fend off the Argentineans.

Lithuania locked up second place in Group B with a 96-73 blowout of Mali - with Vitalijus Kozys scoring 20 points and both Lukas Uleckas andTomas Balciunas hitting 11 for the 2-1 Baltic side. Abdoul Karim Coulibaly scored 29 points for Mali.
Group D ended up going to France, who are 2-1 after easing by Dominican Republic 78-48 with Eddy Kayouloud scoring 15 points and Ivan Fevrier picking up 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Bosnia and Herzegovina grabbed the second spot in the group with a 105-85 victory over Korea - leaving both teams at 2-1 as well. Dzanan Musa scored 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Sani Campara added 25 points and Emir Cerkezovic flirted with a triple double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Korea took third place as Lee Junghyun scored 32 points.
