Korea and Canada took charge of their respective groups at the #FIBAU17 by picking up their second straight victory. Six players scored in double figures for Korea in a 77-71 victory over Dominican Republic in Group D. Shin Minsuk paced the Asian champions with 19 points while Lee Hyunjung and Park Minwoo both had 13 points. The Dominicans, playing at their first-ever U17 Worlds, got a monster 24-points and 22-rebound performance from Anderson Mirambeaux, while Justin Minaya and Alanzo Frink both scored 13 points in the loss. Mirambeaux's 22 boards set a new tournament record for a single game, eclipsing the mark of 20 set twice by France's Stephan Gombauld two years years ago. Jaylen Hoard poured in 23 points to lead the French while Yves Pons had 22 points and Ivan Fevrier chipped in with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Dzanan Musa tallied 19 points for the Bosnians but it was not enough for the Balkan team. Canada also improved to 2-0 in Group C as they blasted Finland 92-68 with four players scoring in double digits. Ignas Brazdeikis' 17 points led the way for the Canadians, who also got 16 points and 10 rebounds from R.J. Barrett while Danilo Djuricic and Emmanuel Akot both scored 14 points. Andre Gustavson scored 17 points to pace Finland, who dropped to 1-1. Even with the Finns at 1-1 in Group C are China, who picked up their first victory by beating Australia 90-72. Bai Haotian led the Chinese with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Australia, the finalists at the past two editions of the championship, dropped to 0-2 despite 25 points from Tom Fullarton while Sam Froling chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
