This kitten is eating like that because of the pain from his toe amputations. ?????
As most of you know, on Saturday the NYSVMS and other vet assoc stopped our important Cat Protection Bill in NY.
This bill would have kept all kittens and cats from having their toe bones and claws amputated. Declawing is the most cruel, inhumane, and unnecessary surgery in veterinary medicine and it is an elective, non-therapeutic mutilating procedure and NOT a medical procedure.
The NYSVMS sent this smug email to their 5000 vet members yesterday about their victory. They are so proud of this accomplishment of stopping our important declawing bill AND the bill that would have banned the cruel and inhumane mutilating procedure that silences a dog's voice.
As with declawing, this procedure provides no medical benefit to dogs and are done solely for the convenience of the owners. Here is part of what their leader told their NY vets.??? "With the Legislative Session concluding this weekend, both the devocalization and declaw legislation did not move in the Senate.

This is positive news for NYSVMS and all licensed veterinarians in NYS. We could not have done it without the combined efforts of the regional leadership, our lobby firm team of Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman and Dicker, and members of NYSVMS who voiced their viewpoints en masse.
Our leadership addressed pressure from a small minority of consumers demanding that NYSVMS support the declaw legislation. Our leaders weathered every call, email and social media post, with grace, leadership, and professionalism. In addition, they provided factual and statistically relevant documents that served to address the more global issue at hand – that NYSVMS will ALWAYS aggressively defend the licensed veterinarian’s right to make medical treatment decisions that are in the best interests of their patients. "
