As most of you know, on Caturday, the NYSVMS , the Long Island Veterinary Medical Assoc., and other unethical vet associations successfully stopped our Cat Protection bill in NY that would have banned the inhumane and mutilating procedure called declawing. I'm still sick and disheartened about the outcome.
They stopped the bill last year and said their efforts to influence the legislators worked and the Pres of the NYSVMS said they, "scored a direct hit" and a "major win for the profe$$ion." What about the cats you unethical, greedy, misguided "doctors" of veterinary medicine? The President of the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association, Dr Nicole Paccione-Gerbe sent a note to her vet members saying that "government and social media" shouldn't take away their "medical procedure" and she even asked her vets that if they personally are against declawing and know it's wrong they should go against their conscience and help stop our important cat protection bill.
The NYSVMS President, Dr Susan Wylegala, told her 5000 vet members to tell the NY legislators that our bill that would end this cat torture and mutilation is, "detrimental to animals."
Could these people get any more unethical? They pretend like they care about cats but all they care about is power and greed.

Let's make this movement for all the kitties even bigger and stronger and fight these evil forces so cats will be safe from their hands that destroy their paws and take away their much needed toe bones and claws.
Good news in all this is that Assemblyman Troy Singleton of New Jersey just sponsored a declawing bill in his state. Let's hope the veterinary associations and their leaders are more ethical than these terrible ones.
