Photo by @jodymacdonaldphoto // The honeycomb stone vessels of the tannery in Fez, Morocco make up the oldest leather tannery in the world. It dates back at least nine centuries. These vessels are filled with various dyes and liquids where the sheep and goats hides are soaked in diluted acidic pigeon excrement and then transferred to other vessels containing vegetable dyes made from henna, saffron, indigo and mint. A trade that hasn't changed since medieval times...a rare and precious thing. @natgeocreative #Morocco #Africa #Fez
