Artists Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige explore the limitations of images and documentation in relation to trauma, including their personal experience of the Lebanese Civil War. On view in our #GuggUBSMAP exhibition “But a Storm Is Blowing from Paradise,” their work “Latent Images” (2015) is centered on a book containing written descriptions of images taken by a fictional photographer struggling to accept the transformation of Beirut.
