Architect and visionary #FrankLloydWright was born on this day in 1867. The Guggenheim went through at least six set of plans and the at the time it was the boldest American attempt to create a sculpturally free architecture of reinforced concrete. The gallery's spiral was among Wright's most radical and technically challenging schemes, positioned in opposition to Manhattan's rectilinear steel-framed skyscrapers. #Guggenheim ? William Short
