An enormous, headless Rihanna has become a hit art attraction:

#Rihanna is the inspiration for a new, enormous, headless, bizarre, incredible artwork that’s exhibiting at the ninth Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art.

Colombian artist Juan Sebastián Peláez unveiled the piece – titled Ewaipanoma (Rihanna) – at the Biennale on Friday (June 3), as MTV News report. It’s part of a series by Peláez featuring oversized cutouts of celebrity bodies with their heads removed and superimposed on their upper naked bodies.

The ‘ewaipanoma’ of the artwork’s title refers to a mythical race of headless men with faces on their bodies that English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh heard about while he was in 16th-century Venezuela. As the Biennale’s website describes it, “Both the bodies and faces are sourced from pop queens and soccer stars from the Caribbean or Latin America... While hinting at the sometimes monstrous body modifications typical of celebrity culture, these works also reference longstanding projections of otherness.” The origin of the cutout is a paparazzi snap of Rihanna taken in November 2013, while the pop star was on holiday in Barbados. The artwork is currently on show at Kunst-Werke Institute for Contemporary Art. #dazedinstastory
