"The mountains are calling and I must go." The first page of a new notebook sets the tone for the course of the journey. I couldn't think of a better way to commence my new @Shinola sketchbook (the paper is decadently awesome btw) than with a quote from one of my favorite athletes of all time, Wayne Gretzky. Field hockey was my number one love growing up and though Mr. Gretzky was a player on the ice, the common thread was there and his spirit was a source of great inspiration for me. As I embark on the new and unknown, I want to bring the important parts of my history with me. There's something about roots and wings that go hand in hand even though seemingly paradoxical, yet in order to get your flight going strong, you must have solid ground to take off from. That's what this new chapter and notebook feel like and in that the pen that I use to write the pages is equally important. It becomes my companion and right hand man along the way. For this trek the Aurora Optima Monviso 360 is just the one for me. The pen itself was inspired and named after the highest mountain in the Cottian Alps, so it just really resonates with where I'm at and inspires me each time I sit to write with it. So here's to new beginnings, to a story unfolding, to your mountain calling, to roots and wings, to staying humble and grateful, and to giving it your best shot each day. Life is a gift. Let's make it count! ?
