Happy Birthday to one of the most charismatic FIFA World Cup players of recent history, Alexi Lalas.
Lalas featured in all four games for the USA in 1994 and stood out with his flowing locks and rock star beard. Lalas said of the World Cup: "It changed my life. It opened a whole lot of doors for me and showed if you can get your timing right and take the opportunities that come your way, you can achieve great things, even if you're not the most talented of players." After 96 caps, a spell in Serie A, and a starring role at the inception of @Major League Soccer, doors continued to open. Lalas has been a singer and guitarist in the band 'Gypsies', taken roles in general management at 3 MLS clubs, worked as a TV commentator, and most recently, became one of the FIFA Legends, who will support FIFA's social development projects and promote Fair Play, respect, equality, solidarity and peace through sport.
