#GuggUBSMAP artist Hassan Khan draws on personal experience to construct narratives around events, features, and individuals from his home city in Cairo, Egypt. Khan’s sculpture "Bank Bannister (Banque Bannister)," is a reproduction of the handrail located outside the first bank in the country to have been Egyptian-owned. His recreation of the feature as a sleek sculpture suggests that we regard it not as a Duchampian found object, but as an artifact in its own right. Learn more at guggenheim.org/map.
