The Kemp's ridley is the most endangered of the world's seven species of sea turtles. All sea turtles are threatened or endangered. Five species can be found in the Gulf, where coastal development has contributed to population declines. At Padre Island, which is part of the world's largest barrier island system, eggs from nests are gathered by National Park Service biologists and incubated in a nursery to help increase the number of hatchlings to start their lives in the waves. #gulfofmexico #seaturtle #NationalParks Please #followme @carltonward.
